The building was formerly the site of the Tűzraktér cultural centre, which offered young artists, actors and architects a place to showcase and practice. Plydesign is pleased to represent Hungarian creativity through its pieces of furniture in these spaces with renewed function, always keen to contribute to progressive and forward-looking projects. It is particularly gratifying to see Forestay Group's support for sustainability and green solutions; in 2023 they installed nearly 800 m² of solar panels, new heat pumps and operators, which resulted in a two-category improvement of the building's energy rating from CC to AA, a unique energy improvement.
A natural consequence of the dormitory environment is that hundreds of people use the furniture in classrooms and common areas daily, and the furniture in the rooms is also subject to
constant wear and tear. In addition to the fact that the interior designers preferred a Hungarian product, a key criterion in the decision was finding
a long-term solution for seating furniture. The entire Plydesign collection is designed for public environments,
meeting European standards (EN) for stability, safety and surface resistance. As well as being able to withstand exceptionally high-intensity use without compromising quality, one of
the advantages of plywood is that it is not heavy and can be easily lifted and moved. In the case of
FRIGATE stacking chairs,
a trolley with a handle to facilitate mobility is available to move a stack of 20 chairs.
