HOW WAS THE IDEA BORN?
The lamp's design embodies a playful take on minimalist elegance while showcasing the natural warmth of wood. In a meditative, creative process,
Ramón Nieto used a calligraphy pen to draw organic shapes on paper. From these sketches, he carefully chose the final form of the FLESUS lampshade, achieving a balance of artistry and function.
The next step aimed to create a flawless hemisphere using the molded plywood technique. The main challenge was linked to the limited flexibility of traditional plywood, as its narrow bending radius led to surface creasing. The product development overcame the complexity of the shape by developing a three-layer solution: the middle layer was made of 3D veneer, while the top and bottom layers were crafted from traditional plywood.
LIGHT PLAY AND FLOATING ELEGANCE INSPIRED BY NATURE
Its sophisticated, lightweight, thin lampshade, with the aid of the transparent centre plate, creates a floating effect, fostering a calming sense of harmony. With its organic shape and open top, the lamp directs light toward the ceiling, casting abstract shadows in every direction. The LED lighting provides a warm, natural glow enriched by the warm tones of American walnut and European oak.
WHY CHOOSE THE FLESUS LAMP?
Beyond its distinctive and striking design, sustainability and waste management played a primordial role in creating the FLESUS lamp. Crafted exclusively from responsibly sourced wood (FSC-certified), it is made of plywood - a material that generates significantly less waste during production compared to solid wood.
To minimise environmental impact, the lampshade is treated only with water-based lacquer, avoiding the emission of harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The lamp comes with an LED bulb with a lifespan of up to 20,000 hours, ensuring a long life cycle. Its minimalist design reduces the number of components, making each part easily detachable for adequate recycling or potential replacement. Delivered in a disassembled form, the FLESUS lamp embodies eco-conscious craftsmanship without compromising elegance or functionality.
