Tamás Babits, founder and CEO, brought
about Plydesign in 2014, intending to create a high-end design collection based
on his 30-year family-owned factory's extensive experience in manufacturing
molded plywood. Care, consciousness and curiosity have been shaping the core of
the design approach where the fusion of technology and material make our
imaginations a reality – the enhancement of people’s quality of life.
Plydesign’s mission is to create a platform for innovation and original
concepts, in this way to ameliorate the position of the Hungarian furniture
industry as well as embrace young designers. Plydesign’s work is
characterized by serendipity – the ability to profit from new encounters and
associations that result in striking juxtapositions of ideas which resulted in
developing a subtle, yet sturdy furniture collection.
Plydesign was born out of the desire to create excellent furniture design
Our
achievements greatly rely on our partners' high level of enthusiasm, prowess and diligence. Our family-owned factory has gained a 30—year solid
background of experience in manufacturing molded plywood components for
renowned design brands. The versatile and flexible nature of plywood allows us
to create contours following the body's shape, producing smaller amounts
of waste and using fewer raw materials than solid wood. In addition, we choose
wood only from FSC-certified sources. Plydesign products can be tailored to
personal taste with OEKO-TEX® and EU Ecolabel-certified textiles and fabrics by internationally acclaimed suppliers such as Camira and Gabriel or highly
resistant leather by Sørensen.
