Tamás Babits, founder and CEO, brought
about Plydesign in 2014, intending to create a high-end design collection based
on his 35-year family-owned factory's extensive experience in manufacturing
molded plywood. Care, consciousness and curiosity have been shaping the core of
the design approach where the fusion of technology and material make our
imaginations a reality – the enhancement of people’s quality of life.
The strategy of Plydesign is framed by innovation, collaboration and efficiency. Its mission is to create a platform for original concepts and to encourage young designers, thus boosting the position of the Hungarian wood and design industry at home and abroad. Over the years, working with talented designers has resulted in the wide range currently available, which perfectly covers the needs of the public, home and office interiors.

Our
achievements greatly rely on our partners' high level of enthusiasm, prowess and diligence. Our family-owned factory has gained a 35—year solid
background of experience in manufacturing molded plywood components for
renowned design brands. The versatile and flexible nature of plywood allows us
to create contours following the body's shape, producing smaller amounts
of waste and using fewer raw materials than solid wood. In addition, we choose
wood only from FSC-certified sources. Plydesign products can be tailored to
personal taste with OEKO-TEX® and EU Ecolabel-certified textiles and fabrics by internationally acclaimed suppliers such as Camira and Gabriel or highly
resistant leather by Sørensen.
